Truecone Privacy Policy

Truecone is a private kiln log for ceramic studios. This policy explains what data the app handles and the choices you have.

Short version: your studio records are stored on your device unless you choose to export them, send feedback, make an App Store purchase, or turn on iCloud backup. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Who provides Truecone

In this policy, "we," "us," and "our" refer to Truecone.

Data Truecone Handles

Data you add to the app

Truecone lets you save kiln and studio records, including firings, temperature readings, kilns, materials, firing templates, notes, maintenance events, reminders, photos, imports, and exports.

This data is stored in the app on your device. If you delete records in the app, they are removed from the app's local storage. If you delete the app, iOS controls what app data is removed or retained in device backups.

Photos, camera, and label scanning

If you take a firing photo or scan a label, Truecone uses the camera only while the scanner is open. Text recognition for labels runs on the device. If you choose images from your photo library, Truecone copies the selected images into the app's storage.

Truecone does not use your camera or photo library for advertising or tracking.

iCloud backup

If you turn on iCloud backup, Truecone stores a backup of your Truecone records and saved photos in your private iCloud storage. Apple provides the iCloud account, storage, and network service. We do not receive your studio records or photos through iCloud backup.

Turning off iCloud backup stops future automatic backups from this device. It may not remove an earlier backup from iCloud. You control your iCloud account and storage through Apple's settings.

Exports and imports

If you export a backup, CSV, or PDF, the file is created on your device and you choose where it goes. Anyone you share that file with may be able to read its contents. If you import a file, Truecone reads the file you choose so it can add records to the app.

Notifications

If you allow notifications and enable maintenance reminders, Truecone schedules local reminders through iOS. Reminder text may include the reminder title and kiln name you entered.

Purchases

If you buy or restore Studio Pass, the App Store handles payment and account processing. Truecone receives the purchase status it needs to unlock features. We do not receive your payment card number.

Feedback and diagnostics

If you use Send Feedback in the app or submit the support form on our support website, Truecone sends the category, message you typed, optional reply email address, contact preference where available, and basic app or device information needed to understand the report. On the support website, app version and device information are optional fields. Your kiln records, photos, backups, payment information, physical address, and precise location are not attached unless you type that information into the message.

Truecone may also send crash and diagnostic information needed to find and fix problems. Diagnostic reports are not used for advertising.

Data Truecone does not collect for us

Use and Sharing

How data is used

Data is used to run the app, save your records, provide backup and export features you choose, confirm purchases, send local reminders, respond to feedback when possible, fix bugs, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

When data is shared

Truecone shares data only in these limited cases:

Security and Retention

Security

Truecone relies on Apple-provided device security features for local app data and private iCloud storage for iCloud backup. No app or service can promise perfect security.

Retention

Local records remain on your device until you edit or delete them, delete the app, or restore the device in a way that removes the app data. iCloud backups remain in your iCloud storage according to Apple's settings and the app's backup behavior. Feedback and diagnostics are kept only as long as reasonably needed for support, maintenance, security, and legal purposes.

Your Choices

Children

Truecone is not directed to children under 13. Please do not send feedback containing personal information about a child.

Massachusetts privacy and security

Truecone is governed by Massachusetts law as described in the Terms of Service. We do not ask for Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, or payment card numbers. Please do not enter those numbers into feedback or studio notes. If Massachusetts breach notice law applies to a security incident involving information we hold, we will give required notices without unreasonable delay.

Changes to this policy

If this policy or the Terms of Service change, Truecone asks you to review and accept the updated documents before continuing.
